RAKU CERAMICS WORKSHOP
Raku firing is a low-temperature ceramic firing that developed in the 16th century in Japan.

Raku firing takes place in the open air, in a special kiln that is heated to a thousand degrees with gas. Glazed works are placed in the kiln, and firing begins. When the glaze melts, the hot objects are lifted out of the kiln with tongs, placed in a slush of sawdust, or reduced. The glazed part of the object takes on a specific color, while the uncovered clay surface turns black when slushed in the sawdust. Then the objects are placed in cold water to cool and cleaned of soot. This whole process is a great joy of collaboration, which results in unique ceramic objects. The finished works can be received immediately after the firing!

The workshop lasts about 2.5-4 hours. (Objects previously prepared by the ceramists are glazed and fired). The participant can glaze the object, participate in the firing process and take their own work of art home after the firing! In addition, the workshop participant will naturally gain a lot of interesting knowledge about Raku ceramics and the intense emotion of creating unique ceramics through the interaction of fire and water.
